A clear need gives someone a useful way to help, even when you cannot find a listing.
Say what you need
Describe the item or permitted help, when you need it and the details that would help a neighbor decide. A folding table for Saturday is more useful than a general request for party supplies.
Keep exact pickup locations and personal contact information out of public text. Posting an ask does not guarantee a reply or a match.

Give your ask a useful date
Choose the date in the community's local time. Add a time when it matters; otherwise, the ask can be met at any time that day. Agree on the actual handoff or work time with the person helping.
An open ask expires 72 hours after its needed-by time.
Turn a response into a clear plan
A response starts a conversation. Check the offer, dates, responsibilities and any price before accepting. An accepted agreement records the plan; a message by itself does not change its terms.
Choose the response that meets your need. Do not assume other responses remain available after you agree with someone.
Keep the ask current
Edit details that have changed or close an ask you no longer need. If no suitable response arrives, check whether the description and timing still reflect your need.
You can renew an ask once with a new needed-by date. A later date uses that renewal.
Closing an ask does not cancel an existing agreement. Handle changes to an accepted exchange with the person involved.
