Community guidelines
A little care makes sharing easier for the next person, too.
Updated draft
These revisions are being prepared for the next release. They have not taken effect. The agreement shown during account setup identifies the version you are asked to accept.
Read the preceding versionBe clear. Be considerate
Use your own account, give accurate information and speak to people respectfully. Harassment, threats, discrimination, impersonation and pressure to ignore a boundary are not welcome.
An offer is an invitation to make a plan. No one owes a response, a loan or a service. Decline politely and respect a decision to stop.
Describe what you can actually share
Only offer something you own or have permission to share. Explain condition, limitations, included parts and availability. Keep photos and descriptions accurate. An illustration used when there is no photo is not evidence of the actual item's condition.
The item value limit is $500. Before lending or renting, agree on the item's stated value and care terms. Borrower responsibility is limited to that stated value under the accepted terms. This item limit does not apply to golf carts.
Keep help within the permitted scope
Services are limited to these families. Agree on a specific task and keep it within that scope.
- Remote tech help
- Ground-level yard support
- Common-area event setup and cleanup
- No licensed trades, roof or ladder work, childcare, pet care, medical or personal care, or driving for a fee.
- No illegal, stolen, recalled or unsafe items, weapons or controlled substances.
Make the plan easy to follow
Confirm the timing, handoff, price if any, care and return. Be ready when agreed. Let the other person know early if something changes, then confirm the change through the agreement.
Check condition and included parts at handoff. Record what actually happened. Do not mark pickup, return or work complete in advance.
For a bundle, consider each person's part separately. One delayed item does not erase your other commitments.
Treat cart use as a driving decision
Free item lending, giving and asks have no platform fee. Cart lending is free and arranged by the hour. Member rides may be free or share the driver's recorded trip cost; they do not use paid item or service checkout.
Confirm the eligible adult driver, permission, equipment, route and return plan. Shared ride contributions stay within the recorded cost of the whole trip across all passengers. Do not charge for driving time or disguise a rental as a ride.
A community connection does not make an unsafe trip safe. Stop if the driver, vehicle, conditions or route are unsuitable.
Keep private details private
Do not put exact addresses, contact details, passwords or private messages in a public description or image. Ask before sharing a person's photo. Keep children's identifying information out of listings and requests.
Being able to discover an offer does not give someone permission to visit, enter a home or share the location with another person.
When something needs attention
Stop an unsafe exchange. If someone is in immediate danger, contact emergency services. Support is not emergency dispatch.
For a conduct, account or exchange problem, tell support what happened and include the relevant reference. Do not publish an accusation or another person's private information. You can ask for review if you believe a restriction or decision is wrong.
Support can help with conduct and applicable payment decisions. It does not provide insurance, a damage guarantee or promised reimbursement.
